W is for Warriors
The Warriors series of books has been much loved by middle son. He has read each of the books in each of the series in order.. as best as we could figure out the proper order to read them in.
Many of the books he re-read in graphic novel/Manga form and for quite some time he enjoyed playing the on- line Warriors game too.
Hearing him talking of these books and these sets reminded me a bit of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole books or the Wings of Fire series where the animals talk, are divided into clans or types, and have prophecies that they are either trying to fulfill or make sense out of. The books are packed with adventure and battles between good/ evil and darkness/light.
The first 6 books are the original series
In the Omen of the Stars set the StarClan draws together three young cats with another dangerous prophecy that reveals a fourth cat must join in order for the cats to save the clans.
Have you ever read them? What did you think of them?

The New Prophecy set are a set of 6 books that bring the reader through the next generation of cats and the prophecies that pertain to them.
In The Power of Three set three of the thunderclan kittens become apprentices but dark prophecies surround them too.
In the Omen of the Stars set the StarClan draws together three young cats with another dangerous prophecy that reveals a fourth cat must join in order for the cats to save the clans.
In the Dawn of the Clans books it is explained how the Warrior cat clans came to be.
There are even more books in the series too! Aside from the Manga books there are super editions, guidebooks, and other short novellas about various cats and clans.

Others in this series:
I think my stepson read one of the books but didn't like it (could be because he doesn't really enjoy reading). I will have to go through his bookshelves to see if it is still out (if not, look through the boxes of books we have put away till his younger brother is older).
ReplyDeleteMy oldest son tried them and hated them. The animals do talk and are quite personified and I think he really hated that aspect of them. My middle son loves reading about animal clans though and these were right up his ally.
DeleteMy son really loved these when he was young. I don't think he has all of them, but definitely the first set. They still are on his bookshelf, he named his kitten Firestar, and he even had me paint a mural of one of the cats on his bedroom door.
ReplyDeleteGood choice! And thank you for linking up with us!
Thanks! I love that he named his kitten Firestar; I could totally see my son doing something like that.
DeleteMy oldest son, who is now in his 20s read those books and loved them. I think he owns most of them now. My 11 year old daughter just started reading them
ReplyDeleteI want to try them myself but just have not gotten around to it yet. They're on my list though.
Deletemy son ADORES this series and keeps rereading them. We read most of them together but now he's reading them for himself. I would happily re-read them too. :)
ReplyDeleteI should mention that his pet snake is called "FireHeart" and almost all of our bunnies have clan names. :)
DeleteThat is awesome! That's when you know a set of books is well loved.
