A Day Of Hiking With Friends
We had unseasonably warm and sunny weather last week so the boys and I met up with some friends to go hiking at Mashamoquet.
We have had a lot of rain so the river was running in full force complete with a few waterfalls!
We hiked the red trail and though it was quite muddy in spots no one minded. The boys had a great time walking and talking with their friends while us moms all caught up with one another too.
There was one whole area of the trail that was lined with these trees on either side and we all agreed it must be beautiful in the spring when they are all in bloom. I made a mental note to make sure we got back there to see them.
We stopped at Table Rock for a little break. The kids explored the area and some of them climbed even higher to some more rocks above.
We hiked for a good two hours and then went over to the pavilion to enjoy some snacks and drinks. The temperatures had dipped down a bit by then and we all wanted to be in the sun. The kids all sat in the open window cut outs talking, eating, and warming up.
I love the pictures! Hiking is so relaxing! #explorerekids
ReplyDeleteIt really is! I find I just love it more and more each year.
DeleteI wanted to go hiking today but the weather is awful! I love those rocks you found!
ReplyDeleteWe were supposed to go hiking again today but it is quite a bit colder this week and we're preparing for a huge winter storm to hit in the next 24 or so hours.
DeleteNothing like a good crisp hike to take in Gods country!
ReplyDeleteSo very true!
DeleteWhat a beautiful outdoor hike! It's been a little too frosty for me to venture out too much, but Spring is looming and posts like this have me thinking about making plans to make it a priority.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad we got out when we did; we're expecting a huge snow storm today and another in the five day forecast. I am definitely a fair weather hiker. :)
DeleteOh cool - I love hiking we have not been in a while now as the weather hasn't been great. I love that Table Rock! #ExplorerKids
ReplyDeleteWe're getting buried in snow today so I'm doubly glad we got out last week!
DeleteLooks like a great time! I love hikes, I always come back with some new perspective.
ReplyDeleteYes, it really does seem to help me gain some much needed perspective.
DeleteWe love hiking as a family. Looks like you had a good time #ExplorerKids
ReplyDeleteWe really did! It didn't hurt that we hadn't seen these friends and family members in weeks and it was so nice to catch up with everyone too.
DeleteWow the scenery is so beautiful what a great place for a hike! #ExplorerKids
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteLove that Table Rock! Have always liked the feel of a rock, especially in the sun, with the warmth they generate 🙂x

I have to admit these rocks were COLD... freezing cold! We were all remarking that our bums were a bit numb by the time we resumed walking but typically I do enjoy a nice warm rock that has been warmed by the sun too.
DeleteLovely little hike! There is something special about the pale spring sunlight at this time of year.

I do love when the sun is shining... right now we have a blizzard raging outside so I'm doubly thankful we took the time to go out and enjoy that taste of spring while it lasted.
