Visiting the Sunflower Farm

At the last minute yesterday we decided to take off for a mini field trip to the local sunflower farm.  For one week each summer this farm holds hay rides, sells sunflowers, makes sunflower ice cream (as well as tons of other homemade ice cream!), and has a very festive feel to it.



There are literally fields and fields of sunflowers.










We walked through the fields, stopped to see the cows and even found a few trampled stalks to inspect.  Evan thought it looked so neat inside! 




I was even inspired to take a selfie and though I hate having my picture taken at all I am trying to get better about consciously taking pictures...

    Now, this is my kind of festival! I love flowers, love sunflowers and can never say no to homemade ice cream! What a wonderful day it looks like you had, your pictures are absolutely gorgeous!

      Thanks! We try to go most years. I just love sunflowers. My whole first kitchen was all deep green with big sunflowers everywhere.

    Beautiful!!! You make me want to search for a sunflower farm! I went to a tulip farm this past May...but would LOVE to visit a sunflower farm = love flowers :)....

      OH I just LOVE tulips! I had them as my bridal bouquet; I'd love to see a whole farm of them. There is something so happy about visiting any type of flower farm isn't there?

      I feel bad admitting that I have never been brave enough to try it! It's a vanilla based ice cream with sunflower seeds, honey, and nuts. It sounds good but they have SO many wonderful homemade flavors to choose from that I usually end up with something else.

Dollar Store Candy Cane Wreath

Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6.
