A Sneak Peek at Our Trip to Charleston South Carolina
I'm back... did you miss me?
I hope you didn't even notice I was gone. I scheduled lots of new posts before I left and hoped that would keep you all entertained.
My husband and I left last Friday for a four day trip to Charleston, South Carolina-- without the kids!
I didn't even take my laptop with me!
We had a great time despite temperatures being in the upper 90's and so darn humid it felt difficult to breathe at times.
How could we not with views like this?!
Or a room like this??
Seriously we spent a lot of time in our room watching TV, napping, reading, and just enjoying the air conditioning!
And the pool-- Oh my!
We ate such wonderful local fares like fried chicken with sweet tea glaze, low country fish stew, blue crab cakes, and hush puppies.
This was one of our favorite restaurants with amazing food and wonderful water views. We even got to watch dolphins jumping around in the boat wakes.
I have many, many more pictures to share too. We went to the aquarium, on a harbor cruise, and checked out a few area beaches and historical sights too. I'll be writing up a few mores posts soon but I hope you enjoyed this little peek at our trip.

watching all the boaters during dinner was quite entertaining; unfortunately dolphins are hard to capture on film! |

It was wonderful! Very relaxing.
DeleteLooks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI loved all that southern charm!
DeleteWhat a wonderful get away. We are off to a little island near Charleston in October.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Dawn
We visited a few of the islands near Charleston; it's amazing just how many there are!
DeleteWow! I want to go there! Your story was the most popular from our party and will be featured Tuesday night at Wonderful Wednesday Blog Hop. Funny thing. Loved all your images but that bedroom decor really got me so that is the one I used!

Wonderful! I loved our room; I'm not usually one for bright yellow but with all the blue it was just stunning and so summery.
DeleteOh the POOL!!! I wish I was there right now! Just me & my hubby :D

The pool was my absolute favorite spot!
DeleteLooks like a wonderful journey! We just spent a week in the islands off of NC -- still taking it all in! <3 #FabFridayPost
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to visit the outer banks; this had a much faster travel time from the airport. We'll have to check out the North Carolina islands another time when we have more than just a couple of days.
DeleteCharleston is a wonderful place to vacation. It is a bit hot and humid in summer, so we went in early spring.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had thought to go in the early spring; it was fun but too hot for this New England born and bred family. :)
DeleteHow wonderful! I have only been to Charleston once and we stayed right in the city. It looks like you found the perfect place to relax...so beautiful! Thanks for linking up to the August Take Me Away party!

I was kind of bummed that we were outside the city at first but once we go there we just LOVED it! I was happy to away from the hustle and bustle; it was very relaxing.
DeleteI have always wanted to go to Charleston. Where did you stay - that room looks amazing! I just have to figure out the least hot and humid time of the year to visit. Great post, looking forward to the others.
ReplyDeleteWell, not in late July; that's for sure! LOL. We Stayed at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina; it's two hotels side by side. The pool is part of the Beach Club side but we chose to stay at the Harborside resort. It did have it's own pool but since we could have access to the whole property we decided to use the Beach Club's pool.. it was just so much more impressive.
DeleteWow, looks like you had a fabulous time! It's important to get away without the kids from time to time, especially when you're homeschooling! I'm looking forward to hanging out in a hotel room and by a pool with a stack of books in 4 weeks! Thanks for linking up at the Blended Blog!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't get much better than that!
DeleteWe loved Charleston so much when we went a couple of years ago that we made a second trip with friends at Christmastime which was so much fun also. I was curious about where you stayed and what you saw. That hotel looks amazing, especially the pool! We stayed in an airbnb when we went. I'll be back to see how the rest of your vacation went!
ReplyDeleteThat pool was amazing! I pretty much picked the hotel based on the pool. Knowing it would be hot I wanted someplace nice to go and cool off. I think I would much prefer Charleston in the winter. :) At least I'd get to see more of it as we spent most days in our hotel a/c!
DeleteWhat a lovely vacation! Thanks for sharing at the Weekend Blog Hop at My Flagstaff Home! --Jennifer
