Art Project #83- Paint Your Own Pottery

As part of our 100 Days of Art Challenge as well as our 52 Brand New Experiences, I really wanted to take the boys to a pottery studio.

Unfortunately all of the pottery studios around here either require a series of lessons or we can simply go in, pick a piece of ready made pottery, and paint it.  We chose to try just painting pottery and we had such a fun time!

We have had several weeks of rainy weather and so we picked a dreary morning to go to the pottery studio.  We had the place to ourselves and the boys quickly picked out what they wanted to paint.

Evan chose a dragon statue.

Alec picked out a clay cat.

Ian decided on an army tank.

I went with a coffee mug.

We settled down to paint after just a few minutes of instruction and spend a good couple hours painting our pottery with lots of detail.

We left our pottery to be fired in the kiln and went back to pick it up a week later.

We just loved how they turned out!

    1. Ian was pretty skeptical that he'd find anything he'd like... until he saw the tank! He asked the owner to see if she could find him a helicopter or some construction trucks for next time.
