Art Project #81- Chalk Pastel Lighthouses
Ian asked to do an art project using chalk pastels and requested a scene with boats or a lighthouse. Never one to dissuade my kids from doing art I set to work looking around for something we'd have fun making together.
I'm loving that the boys are starting to request and ask for certain types of art projects! Now that we're getting near the end of our 100 Days of Art Projects it's getting harder and harder for me to keep coming up with fun and unique ideas.
We finally settled on using this Lighthouse project from Art Projects for Kids. We followed her step by step drawing instructions and then when we were happy with our drawings we started adding color using chalk.
The boys decided to make sunsets and used all sorts of beautiful colors for their sky and water reflections; something I really wish I had thought to do!
They enjoyed blending the chalks and playing around with adding a driveway, garden, portholes, and all sorts of other little details!

ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThey did such a beautiful job on these drawings!
ReplyDeleteThank you! We were so pleased with how they turned out.
DeleteMy daughter loves working with chalk pastels too. The lighthouses turned out great! Thanks for sharing them with us!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
DeleteYou are such an inspiration and I am going to copy so many of the ideas you have on here so thanks so much. I have a particular thing about lighthouses as it goes probably brought on by my late Dad always taking me to see them and in particular Flamborough in Yorkshire. #FabFriday
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!! I love lighthouses too. We have lots of them all up and down the east coast and we do try to visit them. Though I have yet to find one that we can actually climb up inside.. but we'll keep looking.
DeleteHow fun! I used to love using chalk pastels in art class in high school. This also reminds me of a scene of a lighthouse I painted for my mom a long time ago. :)
ReplyDeleteI find working with chalk makes me feel relaxed and my older two boys seem to feel the same way.
Deleteooouuu more pictures. These lighthouses are fabulous. Thats amazing you've been doing 100 days of art :) Thanks for sharing with us #FabFridayPost
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was quite a challenge to come up with 100 arts and crafts activities to try (and that the boys were willing to do).
