Homeschooling Through the Alphabet: D is for Determination
Determination is a pretty important word in homeschooling.
Some days our determination to keep homeschooling is all that keeps us going! Homeschooling can be so hard and so challenging at times that I just know I would have quit a hundred times by now if I wasn't so set on seeing this through.
Some days our determination to keep homeschooling is all that keeps us going! Homeschooling can be so hard and so challenging at times that I just know I would have quit a hundred times by now if I wasn't so set on seeing this through.
When we first started homeschooling we weren't sure we would even last a year. By our third year of homeschooling my boys were telling me that they weren't going to go back to school-- ever.
They were just as determined as I was to make this work. They know that they need to help out around the house. They know that they need to try to get along with one another and not drive me totally crazy with their fighting and bickering. They know they need to apply themselves to their work....
But they are just kids and knowing how they should behave is not always how they actually behave.
We have days where they all complain about helping to clean the house and do their chores.
They have days when they are fighting and being so mean to each other that even sending them to their own rooms does not help.
They have days when getting any schoolwork done at all is like pulling teeth.
Luckily those days happen less and less the more we keep on this journey. In turning to homeschooling we adopted a whole new lifestyle and we just LOVE it.
I am determined to keep on homeschooling just as long as I can.

ReplyDeleteIt sure does!
DeleteI so agree! My kids have the same fervent wish to homeschool and that provides me the extra bit I need to get through hard days. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely helps that my kids want to be homeschooled.
DeleteMost of my children have no desire to change from our homeschooling life, which helps me stay determined to make this work. You are right; it does get easier over time.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely does!
