Projects #65-- Painting Ceramics
We had received 6 plain white ceramic village houses from a family member. I wasn't sure if my boys would want to paint them but I thought I would ask as part of our 100 Days of Art Challenge.
I was so surprised over how thrilled they were!
Ian worked on his car garage for more than 3 hours straight!
They were all about the details and did such a wonderful job!
Evan colored his house orange, his roof light blue and then asked me to take over with the details. I agreed to help him and together we picked out the colors and design. I wanted to add some glitter to the snow to make it shimmer and Evan suggested I sprinkle glitter on as I painted the snow whites so the glitter would stick to the wet paint... it worked perfectly!
The boys found some flame-less tea light candles and we used them to light up their buildings. Ian continued pulling out buildings each day and completed quite a few for us.
So far he has spent a few hours on several different days painting them. He asked Alec if he was ever going to finish his high school or if Ian could take that over too. He has three more buildings to go and is enjoying spending hours upon hours each day pouring over these mini houses. He told me he enjoys painting these "things" more than any other painting project we've done.
He sure shows a real talent for the details! He went back and painted all the light with glow in the dark paint too.
