Art Project #56-- Loom Band Ornaments & Bracelets

We had some clear glass ornaments left over from our paint swirled ornaments and I was looking for a quick and easy ornament that the boys could make and also use as mini gifts for some of their cousins that we don't really exchange gifts with.  We like to make sure that everyone we see usually gets just a little something to open.



I asked the boys if they'd like to try filling the ornaments with some of their loom bands.  We have a lot of loom bands and the boys seem to have lost interest them.  

We figured if the kids we were giving them to had also lost interest in crafting with the loom bands that they could just hang them on their tree as a fun reminder of a popular craft.  Though we did make sure to test that they could get the loom bands out if they wanted to use them for crafting once they got their ornaments home.  


They look so pretty with a variety of colors and patterns inside. 


We checked to make sure they could get the loom bands out. 

Alec added a few extra bands around the rim of the ornament too.

It took no time at all to fill up tree ornaments and as an added bonus the boys decided to make a new bracelet with the bands since they already had them out.





It was another perfect addition to our 100 Days of Art Challenge.

      Thank you! Funny, ever since we made these the loom bands have been out everyday and my younger two are crafting away making all sorts of bracelets and animal charms.

      I was thinking of putting little mini Legos inside but I'm not sure I could get my boys to part with those. They are a great way to make a keepsake ornament pretty quickly.

    This is a fantastic idea! My daughter still has a lot of loom bands and she has pretty much outgrown that interest as well. I will see if they can find their way onto a Christmas tree instead! Thanks for sharing this on the Virtual Fridge!

      I found tons of plain glass (and even plastic ones) at Michael's in various shapes and sizes. There are so many things to put inside them!

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? Dollar Store Candy Cane Wreath

Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6.
