52 Lists Week # 45; My Gratitude List
In honor of Thanksgiving and in the spirit of the season I wanted to share my gratitude list. I just love the whole Thanksgiving season... and yes, for me it is a season!
I don't think of Thanksgiving as just a day to eat and give thanks. I think all month long about how lucky I am.
I even have a Pinterest Board filled with 30 days of thankful challenges because I like to try and so something different each year.
Each year for the entire month of November I take part of some Thankful Challenge and either post pictures or write up little blurbs about what I am thankful for on my personal Facebook page. I do a thankful project with the boys and have them write up something they are thankful for each day too. It's a favorite tradition of mine.
I love this time of year and I find that focusing on those things I am grateful for helps me keep a more positive outlook on life. After all I have so many things to be thankful for!
I have a wonderful family and married into a pretty great one too.
I have a wonderful husband and three pretty terrific kids.
I get to stay home with my children and am a huge part of their lives.
When public school wasn't working for us we were able to turn to homeschooling and have found that to be so very rewarding.
We have a lovely home and plenty of heat, hot water, electricity and all t he gadgets that make life pretty easy and fun.
We have a reliable car and get to go on frequent field trips.
We have plenty of food for our bellies and are so lucky to have access to such a huge variety of foods from all over the world.
I have wonderful friends that encourage and support me; even if my life decisions are not the same ones they are making.
I am surrounded by beauty and nature. We live on a lake and enjoy seeing all sorts of wonderful wildlife year round. We live near the woods and get to walk in them often. Trips to the mountains or the beach are only a short drive away in the car and there is so much beauty to behold.
While it may sound a bit crazy; I am always thankful for books. I would even go so far as to say I am thankful for our library and the wonderful librarians that work there. Me and my boys think of our library as our second home and to have access to so many wonderful books, movies and resources is just wonderful (and a special gift for us homeschoolers! I'd go broke buying all the books we read in a year!).
I am so thankful for all of our wonderful family trips, vacations, and memories; both those I was able to experience growing up and those that I have shared with my boys.
I am thankful for all of my wonderful memories. After watching several family members struggle with Alzheimer's I realize the importance of treasuring my memories and am so grateful I have so many happy ones.
What are YOU thankful for?

ReplyDeleteI've just started making a conscious effort to pick up books for myself at our weekly library trip. I may not always have the time to read but if the books are alluring enough I do usually make the time.

ReplyDeleteThank you! Seems like we're always there; we were literally at our library 5 times last week!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting and stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
DeleteI love to see lists like this. It always warms my heart when folks are thankful for what they have and not doting over what they don't. I'm thankful for every sunrise I get to see and take a few moments each evening to contemplate what I could have done better at each sunset. It keeps me humble. xo
