Art Project #39: Painting Pikachu

When Alec and I saw an advertizement for a Pikachu family paint event.  We knew that we could not make it to the class and poor Alec was so bummed.   I assured him we could make something similar on our own at home.

We finally settled down to paint Pikachu for our 100 Days of Art Challenge.  Evan is also a huge Pokémon fan so he wanted to try it as well.

They both painted the entire canvas yellow; even the sides, and we set them aside to dry.  They then decided if there were any areas that needed a second coat or not.

Once we had a solid yellow base the boys added red circles for Pikachu's cheeks.

They used pencils to draw two small circles for Pikachu's eyes, an upside down triangle for his nose, and then a "w" shape for his mouth.  Once they were happy with it they traced over them carefully with black paint using small brushes.

Once the face was painted they drew two arms below his red cheeks and added a white dot to the eyes using the back (rounded) side of the paint brush.

It was so simple and fun.  It was nice to see Evan so excited about another art project.
