Art Project #23: Makit Bakit Kits

Another fun and easy craft for our 100 Days of Art Challenge we purchased some Makit Bakit kits from Amazon. I remember these kits from when I was a kid!

Each kit comes with a metal frame/shape, a suction cup hanger, and a few bags of plastic crystals.

Using a tin foil lined baking sheet we put the crystals where we wanted them in the metal frame.  We had to use tweezers at times to keep the colors from falling into spots we didn't want them in.

We also found small spoons helpful in keeping the beads contained

All filled in and ready to bake!

Once we had our pictures all ready to bake we set them into the oven for 15-20 minutes.  We checked on them and there were a few spots where the plastic had melted and left holes near the metal or through the plastic.  We added some more crystal pieces and baked them for another 15-20 minutes until the plastic was melted smooth and we were happy with how filled in they were.

We used some embroidery floss to tie a loop and hung them in our windows.  Aren't they cheerful?

  1. Love it! Easy peasy...and it works on those fine motor skills for younger kids. ;) #fabfridaypost

    1. It sure does! I love easy craft projects-- every now and then I really need a break from all that planning and prepping.

    1. They were fun but my youngest definitely needed help now and then. Of course that all depends on how much of a perfectionist they are too!
